5 articlesHow the agent loop works
Understand the message lifecycle, tool execution, context window, and architecture that power your SDK agents. The Agent SDK lets you embed Claude Code's autonomous agent loop in your own applications. The SDK is a standalone package that gives you programmatic control over tools, permissions, cost limits, and output. You don't need the Claude Code CLI installed to use it. When you start an agent, the SDK runs the same execution loop that powers Claude Code: Claude evaluates your prompt, calls tools to take action, receives the results, and repeats until the task is complete. This page explains what happens inside that loop so you can build, debug, and optimize your agents effectively. Every agent session follows the same cycle:
Quickstart
Get started with the Python or TypeScript Agent SDK to build AI agents that work autonomously Use the Agent SDK to build an AI agent that reads your code, finds bugs, and fixes them, all without manual intervention. **What you'll do:** 1. Set up a project with the Agent SDK 2. Create a file with some buggy code 3. Run an agent that finds and fixes the bugs automatically * **Node.js 18+** or **Python 3.10+** * An **Anthropic account**. If you don't have one, sign up here. Create a new directory for this quickstart: mkdir my-agent cd my-agent For your own projects, you can run the SDK from any folder; it will have access to files in that directory and its subdirectories by default. Install the Agent SDK package for your language:

Reddit keeps its strange DMCA fight over Google search results alive
On Friday, a judge largely denied a motion to dismiss from a web scraper, SerpApi, which is accused of conspiring with Perplexity AI to illegally scrape copyrighted Reddit content from Google search results. In his opinion , US District Judge Paul A. Engelmayer said that at this early stage, Reddit has plausibly pleaded that there was a conspiracy, with SerpApi providing a product to circumvent Google access controls and Perplexity AI paying for it. Engelmayer’s decision came less than two weeks after another court dismissed a similar action raised by Google , finding that the company had not proven that rights holders, such as Reddit, had ever authorized the search engine to prevent the scraping of protected content. Google told Ars that it planned to amend its complaint to keep its…

Claude published malicious code to the Internet and attacked 3 real companies
Anthropic said its Claude-based security models gained unauthorized access to the sensitive production environments of three outside organizations during internal testing designed to measure the models’ offensive cyber capabilities. The events, which Anthropic revealed Thursday , are the second revelation in 10 days that AI models from the world’s wealthiest providers have trespassed into protected networks, an offense that, in more traditional hacking scenarios, could land the human behind the keyboard in prison for years. Earlier this month, OpenAI said its security models exploited a zero-day vulnerability for use in breaking into the network of Hugging Face, a platform for open source machine-learning models and AI datasets. The OpenAI models went on to steal access credentials and…
Google Earth risked ruin with retracted AI tool for making fake satellite pics
Google briefly allowed anyone to create AI-modified versions of satellite imagery available in Google Earth—before quickly reversing its decision as people shared examples of AI-generated pictures that illustrated the potential for misinformation and disinformation. There is no shortage of generative AI tools that already allow people to create AI-modified images of real buildings and cities based on user prompts. But Google’s aborted attempt to incorporate its Nano Banana 2 AI image generator as a Google Earth feature made it even easier for anyone to create modified versions of authentic imagery depicting real locations—something that Google boasted about when initially promoting the new feature. “For the first time, you can generate custom images using Google Earth’s satellite, aerial,…

Google Earth’s AI deepfake tool only lasted one day
Pompeii reimagined with Nano Banana 2 in Google Earth. | Image: Google Google has shut down Google Earth feature it launched Thursday that allowed users to edit satellite images with text prompts using AI. The tool essentially let users create AI deepfakes of the real world using text prompts; Digital Digging 's Henk van Ess, for example, intentionally generated images adding things like refugees near the Mexican border and a bomb crater by a hospital in Gaza. On Thursday, Google's initial response to van Ess noted that images generated with Nano Banana 2 in Google Earth included a digital watermark and that the company prevented "image creation on harmful topics." One day later, Google's new statement says tha … Read the full story at The Verge.
Would you get tattooed just to interview at a 7-days-a-week AI startup?
Everyone knows that great gimmicks are the key to hiring top developers for your startup. That's why small AI startup LemonLime—which "optimizes your existing data to work with AI"—has so many of them. Want a job interview? Score a perfect 7/7 on the company's own " Is it a Lemon or a Lime? " game. Or—hear me out—get something permanently tattooed on your flesh. LemonLime has tried both tactics in the past few weeks. The tattoo stunt generated the most publicity, of course, much of it negative. According to a writeup in Inc., seven people took the deal and got tattooed with the LemonLime logo during a party. High school defends staying silent while boys made AI nudes of 59 classmates
One of the first schools to shut down after students were found making AI nudes of female classmates is now asking a court to toss a lawsuit filed by victims who claimed that the school stayed silent for months while the emboldened boys targeted many more girls. In a motion to dismiss this week, Lancaster Country Day School (LCDS)—a private K-12 school in Pennsylvania with fewer than 600 students—argued that it was false to say the school never reported the harm to law enforcement. The tip that the school received came from the Pennsylvania Office of the Attorney General, which is itself a law enforcement agency, the filing said. It’s also false to say the school knew that girls were being targeted, the school argued, because the tip did not mention any specific student victims. Read full…

Here’s the problem with putting an AI image generator in Google Earth
A text prompt was all it took to generate reality-warping images using Google Earth's satellite, aerial, and 3D imagery with a now-rolled back AI feature , like these images generated by Digital Digging 's Henk van Ess that show "refugees near the Mexican border" and a bomb crater near a hospital in Gaza. Google initially responded to Digital Digging 's AI-altered images, saying, "We take misinformation seriously - every image created with Nano Banana in Google Earth includes the SynthID digital watermark, so if someone is unsure about an image, they can ask the Gemini app or use Lens in Search to see if the image was AI-generated." In additi … Read the full story at The Verge.

The major labels propose rules to keep AI slop off the charts
Several record labels, including the big three - Universal Music Group, Sony Music, and Warner Music Group - have proposed rules regarding chart eligibility for AI songs . In short, they wouldn't be . The proposal goes quite a bit further than a labeling proposal put forth by the RIAA, the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI), SAG-AFTRA, and others. That would create a set of standardized labels for AI-generated and AI-assisted music. The labels' proposal would require songs be clearly labeled, but it would also keep them off international charts unless they met specific criteria, including being "substantially human … Read the full story at The Verge.

It’s time to panic about AI safety
When the phrase "OpenAI hacked Hugging Face" has more or less entered mainstream culture, you know we have an AI problem . This week, we learned more about exactly how OpenAI's agent broke out of a sandbox and autonomously traversed the web, including a bunch of other supposedly secure web services, all in the name of cheating on a benchmark tests. The fact that this hack happened is a problem. So is the fact that it took a while for anyone to notice. And the fact that it seems no one is willing or able to do much to stop it. (And lest you think it's just an OpenAI problem, since we recorded this episode Anthropic acknowledged its models ha … Read the full story at The Verge.
AI scammers outperform humans when it comes to building trust
The notion that scammers can use AI to sharpen their deceptions, polish their language, and lubricate their banter with victims is now a reality for anyone fighting the fraud operations that steal tens of billions of dollars a year worldwide. But can AI fully replace a human scammer, autonomously building the web of deception leading up to the fake investment that defrauds the mark? One study's experiment suggests that it can—and may even be able to carry out the majority of that long con more effectively than humans. Researchers from four universities—Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham in India, Foscari University of Venice, the University of Melbourne, and Ben Gurion University of the Negev—carried out a broad study on the use and potential of generative AI chatbots in the growing scam industry…

Anthropic says Claude accidentally hacked real companies too
Anthropic just realized several of its Claude AI models hacked into the systems of three different organizations during testing, acting on their own and without the company noticing. The revelation comes days after rival OpenAI said one of its own models had breached developer platform Hugging Face, adding to growing unease over whether frontier AI labs are doing enough to control the increasingly capable systems they are building. In a blog post describing the incidents, Anthropic said Claude gained unauthorized access to the systems during cybersecurity evaluations. All of the attacks happened during "capture-the-flag" exercises, a commo … Read the full story at The Verge.
